Road Trip

Greg actually got a three day weekend! We hit the road and drove up the coast, stopping to sleep in Cocoa Beach and St. Augustine. Ella did great in the car, slept amazingly well in her pack-and-play and tolerated the sight seeing. It was great to spend a whole weekend together as a family.

On Crescent Beach south of St. Augustine

In St. Augustine

At the Castillo de san Marcos in St. Augustine. Construction began in 1672. Did you know St. Augustine is the oldest city in America? Ponce de Leon landed there in 1513 in his search for the Fountain of Youth. The Spanish returned in 1565 and it has been continuously inhabited ever since. It is a charming old city and we had a fun time exploring.

Beach Day

Hanging out after playing in the sand with Dad

Getting closer to the water, even clapping with excitement

Playing in the waves is so much fun!

Circa 1979

Today we dug out my old terrycloth sweatsuit for Ella to model. Its a bit snug, but we still managed to get a few cute photos.

Trying to hitch a ride on poor Hailey's back. Probably not the best thing for her (the dog's) bum ankle.

The best I could get of the whole ensemble. She's so quick its hard to get a focused picture of her these days...

Standing on her own

It's cold in Florida! I actually had to put a sweatshirt and socks on her in the night. Her poor little toes were like icicles when I got up to feed her at 1am. Thankfully it is going to warm up over the next couple days...we miss the pool!!!

Contrary to what this photo suggests, Ella is now standing all on her own. She balances for up to 15 seconds and then sits down. Usually it is a pretty controlled maneuver, so I'm scared that walking will come all too soon. Diaper changing is enough of an issue with her crawling, I can't imagine the circus that will take place when she figures out how to walk.
